Property for Sale in Sweden

Commonly perceived to be expensive and cold, in truth the cost of living in Sweden is higher than Britain’s but property prices are lower, and its temperature is hotter in the summer than the UK’s and not as wet in winter.

For a country with so much space per person, finding a place to live in Sweden can be curiously difficult. Renting an apartment in Sweden will try the most patient of home-hunters, while buying a home can present a range of cultural and financial challenges.

Stockholm's property market offers some of the best prospects in Europe for investors, beaten only by Paris and London, according to a new survey.

In the major cities of Stockholm, Gothenborg and Malmo, property prices, naturally, are more expensive as there is greater demand for real estate. Approximately 20% of Sweden’s population live in greater Stockholm located on the Baltic Sea, at the entrance to Lake Malaren. Built on 14 islands, the city is home to stunning waterside buildings, many of which have been gentrified in the past decade.

It is usual for a Real Estate Agent to be used for buying and selling of property in Sweden. They will handle the necessary paperwork and communicate buying and selling prices with all parties involved. It is not contractual to have your property valued but fairly common for buyers to hire independent surveyors.

When you have satisfied any questions in respect of your purchase a completion date can be agreed through your Real Estate Agent. It is the responsibility of the buyer to apply for deeds of title within three months of the sale transfer and submit for registration.
